DIY Mini Coat Rack [6:1 Scale for Fashion Dolls]

I noticed a life-sized coat rack recently and thought it was something my dolls could use in miniature. This simple craft resulted, helping to tidy up small spaces.

Supplies:

  • Bamboo Kabob Skewer x1: As straight as possible. This piece forms the spine of the coat rack.
  • Hot Glue Gun: Holds everything together. (Word of caution: this tool gets very hot!)

I started by measuring 7″ on the bamboo skewer and cutting/scoring/snapping along that line.

Next, for the legs of the coat rack, I measured 2.5″ on one of the craft sticks and marked an angle of 70 degrees. I cut along this line, and then used this leg as the template to mark and cut the other two legs. This helps make all three legs as similar as possible, forming a solid foundation for the base.

I then used the opposite ends of the sticks I just cut for the top hangers of the coat rack. I measured one at 1.75″ long at a 45 degree angle, cut along this line, and then used this stick as the template for the other two.

Next, I cut the sticks for the middle hooks. I marked and cut one craft stick at 1.3″ at a 45 degree angle, and used that stick as a template for the other two.

Finally, I assembled the coat rack. I attached the legs first, spacing them out evenly.

I attached the top hooks next, attempting to align the placement of each hook with each leg on the base. I repeated this process with the middle hooks, and my coat rack was complete!

I was surprised how sturdy and effective this craft turned out to be. I think there’s room to improve the aesthetics. Feel free to leave suggestions on this in the comments.

Thanks for visiting, and happy crafting!
