DIY Mini Flower Bouquet [6:1 Scale for Fashion Dolls]

I was inspired by these life-sized paper flowers at creativelive.com, and wanted to attempt a miniature version with some variations. Here is what came up.

Supplies:

Tissue Paper: One, two, or three sheets in any color combination. Sometimes green works well as a outer “leaf” layer while red or yellow works well for the center of the flower.

Stem Floral Wire, 22 gauge: Thinner wire or generic craft wire could work just as well here

Floral Tape, green: Finishing touch on the stem

RulerScissors, Craft KnifePencilCraft Mat, Cutting Board

First, I picked three colors to make three separate color layers in my flower: a white center, light pink middle layer, and dark pink exterior.

I measured and cut the tissue paper into 1″ x 1.5″ rectangles.

Next, I cut the stem wire into fourths, ~3.5″ each.

To make one flower, I stacked three of the tissue rectangles, in the order I wanted the colors to appear.

I then folded the tissue paper stack like an accordion.

I collapsed this folded stack of tissue paper and wrapped the end of one of the stem wires around it. I made sure that the center layer color (white) was facing out, away from the length of the stem.

Now, I gently started to pull the white inner layer up and out of the accordion folds. I continue doing this, working may way around the circumference of the flower. I repeat this with the middle and bottom layers, completing the blossom of the flower.

Finally, I covered the wire with floral tape.

I repeated this process three times to complete the bouquet.

This was a fun craft to learn and practice. I’d like to explore some options for adding greenery and leaves going forward. Stay tuned!

Thanks for visiting, and happy crafting!
