DIY Mini Egg Chair Swing [6:1 Fashion Doll Scale]

This miniature egg chair swing is a great furniture piece for a doll-sized patio, study, or den. It is made from string and glue using a party balloon. Sized for 6:1 fashion dolls, the finished dimensions of the chair itself are 7″ x 6″ x 4″. Can be painted to suit. The chair cushions and chair stand will be available in subsequent posts.

Supplies:

Party Balloon: Inflated to ~8″ tall, this serves as the mold for the string and glue.

Marker: To draw a line around the balloon, indicating where to wrap the string.

Ruler: To measure the size of the balloon.

Shallow Dish / Lid: For holding the glue & water mixture. I used the lid from an old takeout container.

School Glue: Adhesive/structure for the string.

Craft Stick: For mixing the glue and water together.

String / Embroidery Thread: Forms the main body of the swing. I used 1 mm cooking twine.

Scissors: For cutting the string.

Clear Gift Tape: For taping the balloon.

Needle / Safety Pin: For piercing the balloon to let out the air.

Toothbrush: To clean glue residue from the chair.

Small Chain: To hang the chair. I used a piece of chain from an old purse strap.

Florist Stem Wire: To reinforce the chair structure.

Needle Nose Pliers: To secure the wire.

Craft Mat:  Catches the drips and drops from the glue and makes for easy clean-up.
