DIY Mini Saguaro Cactus [6:1 Fashion Doll Scale]

This miniature saguaro cactus is free-standing and fits well in a doll-sized Western, desert landscape, or garden. It measures approximately 13″ tall and is made from air-dry clay, a plastic doll stand, and paint. It is sized for 1:6 scale fashion dolls (11.5″ tall).

Supplies:

Air-Dry Clay: I used white and then painted it the color I wanted.

Plastic Doll Stand: This allows the clay model to be free-standing and provides some structure for the spine and arms.

Singleface Corrugated Cardboard: I took an old box and removed one face of the cardboard, exposing the ribs of the interior. I used this as a mold for the clay.

Paint: I used two colors of acrylic paint. First, I painted the entire model in dark green. Then, I used light green to highlight the top of the ribs.

Brushes/Sponges: I used a couple 1″ foam sponges.

Towel/Drop Cloth: To catch any drips/spills. This makes cleanup easier.

Gloves: Optional, but can make cleanup easier.

Glass Cutting Board: This provided a clean, smooth surface for rolling and shaping the clay.

Craft Mat:  To catch any debris or spills and make cleanup easier.
