DIY Mini Palm Tree [6:1 Fashion Doll Scale]

I wanted to fill out a miniature beach diorama, and a palm tree seemed necessary to complete the picture. Here is what came up.

About this Craft:

This miniature palm tree fits well in a dollhouse garden, miniature beach, or diorama. It stands on its own and is made from tissue paper and air-dry clay. It is sized for 6:1 fashion dolls (11.5″ tall). Finished dimensions are roughly 21″ tall x 19″ wide x 19″ deep.

Supplies:

Cardboard Paper Towel Roll: A great upcycle opportunity! A rolled cardboard sheet would also work here.

Brown Tissue Paper: For the trunk of the tree.

Green Tissue Paper: For the leaves of the tree.

Florists Stem Wire: To form the spine of each leaf.

Florists Tape: To wrap the stems of the leaves together.

Air-Dry Clay: To secure the top and form the base of the tree.

Regular Scissors: To cut the tissue paper/towel roll.

Herb Scissors: To cut the fringe on the tissue paper.

Tape: To hold the shape of the palm tree trunk.

Glue Stick: An easy, low-mess adhesive for this craft. Just enough stickiness to hold the tissue paper.

Cutting Board: Helps with measuring and cutting tissue paper.

Craft Mat: To help catch spills/debris. Makes cleanup easier.
